Hi:)I'm trying to find a source for a chip resetter or new chips for carts from my Dell 3110cn or 3115cn.Toner for this printer was easy to find as it uses the same as the 3100cn. But, the chips are completely different.
There is a 'Non-Dell Toner' setting which does not increment the page count on the chips, allowing me to use the refilled toner, but the LCD no longer shows me the amount of toner left in the cart. (Note: If you use this setting, I hear you must turn it on before the cart runs dry. Otherwise, the cart could self-destruct.)I am pretty certain that this printer is a rebranded Xerox Phaser 6180. In spite of the slightly different specs, the printers look near-identical.
But, I have found even less information on this printer.I found information on resetting the chips for a Samsung printer at. The 3110cn/3115cn carts have three conductors, just like the Samsung, so it is possible that this method may work - I'll try it when I get back to the office. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions, or has actually done this before, I'd appreciate hearing about it.Mango:). Mango2This probably isn't what you want to hear, but over here in the UK, my teckie friend and I tried for hours to get around the chips.
Unfortunately without success. Also, with this European version of the machine, we cannot print anything more with the 'empty' cartridge. The machine just refuses to budge until we presumably shell out for some original cartridges. We're holding out for compatible chips to become available. Also, have you actually tried the 3100cn toner in the 3110cn - and printed a substantial amount with this toner? I was led to believe this is unlikely to work. I just wrote this entire thing out and somehow the site ate it. Ok, here we go again.Colgado,I'm sorry to hear you haven't been able to get around the chips, but at least I know I'm not alone!I have indeed tried the 3100cn toner in the 3110cn. I've refilled two carts so far.
When they were at about 15%, I turned the Non-Dell Toner setting on and refilled them. The printer quit working after a bit - probably the 15% - but all that was required was popping the cart out and back in with the power on. Now it prints beautifully. This just just happened so I am waiting to see if it will do the same thing twice. If so, that would be GREAT - we'd have a excellent quality, cheap ($30 + carts) colour laser printer, with cheap & easy toner refills, and easily resettable chips.
What could be better?I have the Canadian version of the machine which I assume to be the same as the American version, except for the French:)Mango:). There are a number of things to note when refilling these cartridges.1. Mixing substantial quantities of original toner with aftermarket toner is NOT good and can lead to print quaity/ fusing problems. So you need to empty the cartridge as well as you can, though with this particular cartridge you need to leave the developer powder in it. Note also that you WILL need to replace the developer powder when you refill the second time, if you want to maintain print quality.2.

There is a waste toner collection on each toner cartridge. Failure to empty this will result in it becomming over-full and waste toner being deposited inside the printer.3.
There are after market chips for these cartridges, they aren't expensive.
